Louvre Remembers Da Vinci with New Exhibit

A new exhibit at the Louvre in Paris is marking 500 years since Leonardo da Vinci’s death, using pieces from the museum’s own collection and from institutions around the world.

The exhibit, just called Leonardo da Vinci, includes many of his well-known masterpieces, as well as many drawings and scientific sketches. It runs until February 24, 2020.

Vincent Delieuvin from the Louvre said the museum wants the exhibit to tell people about every part of Da Vinci’s career and development as an artist.

Da Vinci’s famous Mona Lisa painting will remain where it usually is in the Louvre, but visitors to the new exhibit can enjoy a virtual reality experience that tells the story behind the painting.

The Louvre had trouble borrowing some pieces for the exhibit. Da Vinci’s drawing of a man with perfect proportions, Vitruvian Man arrived in France just days before it opened.

Italian culture group Our Italy tried to stop the loan, saying that the drawing could get damaged if it was moved. However, an Italian court said it could be loaned to the French museum for eight weeks. The Louvre will lend several pieces of art to Rome in return.

The Louvre has also been trying to borrow a painting called Salvator Mundi, which was sold to an anonymous buyer for a record-breaking $450 million in 2017. No one is certain where the painting is, but many people believe that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman is its new owner.

Art experts have not yet agreed whether or not Da Vinci really did paint the Salvator Mundi. The Louvre said it would not make any judgment on the painting until they have it in the museum.

For now, a different version of Salvator Mundi made in Da Vinci's studio is being used in the Louvre exhibit.

I used to be a university faculty in music department for over twenty years. My major was conducting for both orchestra and chorale. In addition to these classes, I taught my students analyzing opera masterpieces which are written by famous composers such as Mozart, Verdi and Pucchini.

After retirement I'm still involved in music such as a conductor and concerts producer by profession.

During free time i like to walk around in the beautiful nature, hearing birds singing, and admiring the flowers blooming and watching up stars twinkling.

So I bought a house built in the wood at the top of the mountain, 550 meters higher than the sea level to enjoy the beuaty of nature in the high altitude. But this location is too difficult for my music activities to make good moving way from place to place, because there is no public transportation at all. To avoid this uneasy condition,I have been keeping a rented a studio room in the center of Osaka where is rankled the second largest metropolitan in Japan.
