ハワイの政治家が島への配慮を誓うよう観光客に求める
A politician in Honolulu, the capital of Hawaii, wants tourists to promise to respect and help protect the island of Oahu and its culture.
Councilwoman Kymberly Pine wants tourists to the Hawaiian island to sign a pledge to be environmentally responsible and respect the local culture during their visits to Oahu, local newspaper The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reported.
Pine said the pledge would ask visitors to agree to respect local agriculture, leave the places they visit clean and tidy, and not to damage the natural environment.
Pine would like the pledge to be part of the Department of Agriculture’s Plants and Animals Declaration Form, which is given to passengers flying to the island and collected by staff on airplanes.
There are already some similar pledge programs in Hawaii, but Pine’s program would be the first in Hawaii to work with a local government agency.
She said the pledge would be a new thing for the local Honolulu government to do because the city doesn’t usually get involved in tourism – but she also said that the city is affected by it in both good and bad ways.
